Bionana Organic Artichoke "Ademaro"

This artichoke is as decorative as it is tasty and therefore a real asset to any vegetable garden. The bud is considered a real delicacy and can be consumed raw as well as cooked, fried or grilled. If it is not harvested, it blooms in unique splendour with wonderfully fragrant, purple flowers. It more than lives up to its nickname "Queen of the Garden".

Our tips:

• For optimal sprouting, let the seeds soak one day before sowing in approx. 20 ° C warm water
• Optimal germination temperature: 20 - 25 ° C
• Place up to four seeds in a small pot
• Set out after the last frost
• Requires loose and nutrient-rich soil
• Regularly remove old parts of the plant for optimal growth
• Transplanting is recommended from the age of three to four years
• Cut back above-ground shoots in autumn or insulate the plant well with leaves or straw if there is a risk of frost
• The dug up artichoke can be overwintered indoors with a damp cloth around its root ball
• The buds are ready to be harvested when the tips of the bracts turn slightly brown and the bracts themselves splay off
