Description

This seed mix contains everything needed to keep bees happy and makes a valuable contribution to the conservation of these hardworking insects. As pollinators, bees play an immensely important role in a functioning ecosystem. Simply find a small patch of earth in your garden or on your balcony and sow these seeds to make the environment a little more colourful and healthy once again.

Contents:

  • Annual Sage (Salvia viridis) 0.4 g (approx. 120 plants)
  • Cornflower (Centaurea cyanus) 1.4 g (approx. 200 plants)
  • Common Poppy (Papaver rhoeas) 0.3 g (approx. 1500 plants)
  • Signet Marigold (Tagetes) 0.17 g (approx. 150 plants)
  • Sunflower 'La Torre' (Helianthus annuus) 2.5 g (approx. 80 plants)

Our Tips:

  • Direct Sowing: All varieties can be sown directly outdoors from April.
  • Ensure the soil is finely tilled and the seedbed is free from weeds.
  • Sowing Depth: Twice the thickness of the individual seed.
  • After sowing, press the seeds gently into the soil and water carefully. Use a fine spray rather than a powerful jet to prevent the soil from capping or washing away.
  • Once germinated, only water when absolutely necessary.
  • For bushier growth, regularly deadhead faded blooms and prune back the plants.
  • Natural Reseeding: If you allow the seeds to ripen in autumn, they may self-sow and bloom again the following year.
  • In the summer months, place shallow dishes of water in the garden as a drinking source for insects.
  • Avoid removing all "weeds," as many are actually valuable food sources for insects.
  • Leave dead stems and seed heads standing in autumn to provide vital winter shelter for insects.
