Kiepenkerl Ginkgo Biloba

Many books have been written about the magic of the ginkgo tree . This tree, from China and Japan enchanted even Goethe. The deciduous and coniferous tree is from the dinosaur ages and is very interesting as it presumably existed more 200 million years ago.

The symmetrical right and left leaves are a symbol of the Asian balance of yin and yang. Ginkgo is considered curative, and the extracts are said to strengthen the memory.

There are male and female plants that grow spherical fruits. The leaves turn bright yellow in the winter. Full grown Ginkgo is an attractive tree of about 10 meters high. Frequently the homegrown plants are used for designing bonsai.
