Description
Crapaudine is a popular variety from France with a conically pointed shape and a deep red, almost black exterior colour and a pleasantly sweet flavour. The variety is known for its huge yield. It can produce huge turnips of over 500 g. This variety is in demand for competitions for the largest beetroots. Their uniformly deep red flesh is very tender and flavourful. The beets can be stored for a long time, similar to potatoes.
Beets are among the tastiest and healthiest vegetables. They can be cooked in many different ways. The special variety contains a lot of juice and is rich in minerals and vitamins.

More information
Plant from mid-April on, when the soil has already warmed up sufficiently. Once the young plants have well-defined cotyledons, they can be separated to 12 to 15 cm. This gives the individual plants enough space for further development. For giant beets, distances of 30 cm are appropriate.
