Description

Biochar is not a nutrient, but rather the perfect habitat for desirable microorganisms due to its large surface area. It ensures that nutrients are stored and cannot be lost. Fertiliser efficiency can also be significantly increased.

Important:

A direct application of biochar on soil can lead to negative effects, as the coal first has to “charge” itself with nutrients and microbiology. Only when the charcoal is saturated and thus "activated" can it unfold its positive effect. We therefore only recommend our biochar in conjunction with an organic fertiliser!

If the biochar is used correctly, the humus content and soil fertility increase rapidly. This is reflected in an improved soil structure (the soil becomes looser), increased water absorption and increased water storage capacity. The plants become more resistant to diseases and pests. Plant growth and yields remain healthy, especially in years with bad weather.

The general rule:

The earlier biochar is used, the faster its effects develop. Ideally, it should be strewn into manure (regularly in smaller quantities). Additional aeration of the manure promotes the desired aerobic microbiology.

Manure processing:

Biochar's odour and nutrient binding qualities can be very useful in stables. It is not only about the N-bond, the stable climate can also be improved. Moreover, the use of biochar encourages the manure to rot. By reducing losses, the build-up of humus in the ground can be promoted. It combines perfectly with rock dust, as this supplies the necessary trace elements and minerals, which are essential for the development of soil fertility and the build-up of humus. The microbiological composition is demonstrably positively influenced by the combination of biochar and rock dust.

Compost additive:

A series of tests has shown that the addition of 10-20% biochar reduces nutrient losses during composting by up to 50%. The odour produced by the compost is significantly reduced or completely absorbed. Material composted with biochar always smells very strongly of forest soil. The finished compost has growth-promoting effects in the first year of use on low-consuming plants such as carrots, onions, herbs, beans or peas. Soil treated with such a compost gets better year on year (“terra preta effect”). From the second year after application, positive effects regarding yield can also be expected for heavy consuming plants.
