Description
This succulent brings a touch of the South Seas to your home and delights with its palm fronds and attractive white flowers, which appear from the tenth year onwards. It is well-suited as a houseplant and grows up to one metre tall.
Our tips:
- During cultivation, scatter the seeds directly onto moistened potting substrate - ideally 75% cactus soil and 25% sand - and do not cover with soil (light germinator!)
- Cover the cultivation container with cling film and provide air holes to protect the soil from drying out
- Remove the film every two to three days for about two hours to prevent mould formation
- Place the cultivation container in a bright and warm location at 20 to 25°C
- Keep the soil surface moist but not wet
- High water requirement - water thoroughly, but avoid waterlogging
- If watered continuously throughout the year, the plant retains its leaves
- Fertilise moderately from May to August
- Repot into a larger container with cactus soil every two years in spring
- Ensure good drainage
- Overwintering is possible in a bright location in a heated flat as well as in a cool, dark place just above the frost line
