Description
Wild garlic is a wild-growing vegetable that spreads easily in gardens in a shady, moist spot if the conditions are right. Top chefs and gourmets rave about the flavourful qualities of this seasonal spring vegetable. The delicate green leaves smell and taste intensely of garlic but after a short time, the odour disappears due to the chlorophyll content. They are delicious in salads and soups. The plants bear pretty white flowers in May and die back shortly afterwards.
Caution! Do not plant near (toxic) lily of the valley - the leaves are similar and easy to mix up.
