Description
Chamomile belongs to the daisy family and has always been used as a medicinal herb in naturopathy. Chamomile was originally native to southern and eastern Europe, as well as the Middle East. Today it is naturalised throughout Europe, North America and even Australia.
The chamomile flowers have a pleasant smell that is popular in cosmetics. The essential oils in the plant can be obtained through steam distillation. The flowers, seeds and herbs are used for making chamomile tea. Chamomile tea is soothing and should be drunk before going to sleep, according to Italian tradition.
