Description
This is a special variety from the Italian region of Bergamo, which resembles Cayenne chillies in looks but is significantly milder in taste.
Our tips:
- For a harvest in the first year, start cultivation between January and March
- To improve the chances of germination, soak the seeds in room-temperature water for 24 hours before sowing
- Moisten the growing medium daily with a spray bottle after sowing
- Cover the seed tray with cling film to protect the substrate from drying out; remove the film every two days for two hours to prevent mould growth
- Place the seed tray in a bright location with a temperature of around 22 to 30°C
- After germination, remove the cover and place in a slightly cooler spot
- Prick out after the second pair of leaves has formed
- Place outdoors during the day from 5°C onwards to harden off
- From mid-May, transplant to a sunny location in a garden bed or pot
- Water only when the surface of the substrate has dried out
- Fertilise when the first buds appear
- Overwinter in a bright spot indoors and continue care as usual
