Saflax Canary Island Date Palm

With a growth height of around 2 m, the Cnaray Island date palm is very well suited as a container plant for conservatories and indoor cultivation. The characteristic feathery palm fronds and the trunk develop after a few years. This palm symbolises justice and the resurrection of Jesus. Its fruits are not edible.

Our tips:

• Soak seeds in lukewarm water for three to four days before sowing to improve germination
• Cover the cultivation container with cling film and provide air holes to protect the soil from drying out
• Remove the film every two to three days for about two hours to prevent mould formation
• Place the cultivation container in a bright and warm place at 20 to 25°C
• Keep the soil surface moist but not wet
• Ensure a bright location at room temperature
• During the summer, the date palm can stand in a sunny and sheltered place outdoors
• Requires a large and tall planter due to its taproots
• Always keep roots well moistened
• A substrate of potting soil, palm soil, and sand is ideal
• Drainage layer recommended to avoid waterlogging
• Overwintering in a bright room at around 15°C
