Saflax Bonsai - East Asian Cherry

This beautiful tree blooms profusely with the first warm rays of April sunshine. In Japan, where cherry trees have been cultivated for over 1500 years, this flowering is celebrated with numerous festivals. With its wide, funnel-shaped growth and yellow-orange leaves in autumn, this bonsai is a beautiful addition to your garden.

Our tips:

• Before sowing, place the seeds in the refrigerator for a week and then soak them in room-temperature water for 24 hours to improve chances of germination
• Cover the seed pots with foil and make holes in them so the soil does not dry out
• Remove foil for two hours every two to three days to prevent mould growth
• Keep potting soil moist but not wet
• Ideal germination temperature: 15 to 20°C
• Loves a sunny and moist location
• Water frequently and sufficiently, but avoid waterlogging
• Don't let the soil dry out in the hot summer months
• Fertilising with a special bonsai fertiliser once a month from March to September is recommended
• Hibernation protected outdoors or in a cold house - a cold period is necessary for rich flowering in spring
