Step 1: Wood Chips
Before positioning and filling the raised bed, a vole mesh should be installed between the ground and the base of the bed to prevent rodents and other pests from gaining access. To protect the wooden sides from rotting, the interior walls can be lined with protective lining film. Once these preparations are complete, fill the raised bed evenly with COMPO BIO Wood Chips. Firmly press down the wood chips during filling to ensure stability and optimal aeration of the base layer. The base layer of COMPO BIO Wood Chips should be 20–30 cm deep, or no more than one third of the total height of the raised bed.

Step 2: Gardener’s Compost
After creating a base layer of wood chips (e.g. COMPO BIO Wood Chips) or other shredded garden material, fill the raised bed with peat-free COMPO BIO Gardener’s Compost. This second layer should account for approximately 30–40% of the total filling volume. It ensures an optimal nutrient supply for plants and activates soil life.

Step 3: Raised Bed and Greenhouse Compost
This is the ideal choice as the top layer. Certified organic, it consists of natural, high-quality ingredients and is perfectly suited for growing vegetables and herbs.
