Description
The 'Lerchenzungen' kale is a medium-tall traditional variety featuring finely curled, narrow leaves. Harvesting takes place in winter after the first frosts - only then does the plant develop its wonderfully sweet and robust kale flavour.
Our Tips:
- Frosts down to -8ºC are no problem. Under a layer of horticultural fleece or snow, the plants can withstand even lower temperatures.
- As a "heavy feeder," it benefits greatly from a generous supply of well-rotted compost.
- Fine-mesh netting provides excellent protection against cabbage root fly and other pests.
- Mulching your beds (e.g., with autumn leaves) helps protect the soil from frost and prevents moisture loss.
