Description

This uniform Nantese-type variety is particularly well-suited for heavy soils, producing healthy, robust foliage and carrots with excellent storage life and an intensely sweet flavour. It shows high resistance to Alternaria (leaf blight) and is less prone to splitting.

Our Tips:

  • Sowing Rates:
    • Bunching carrots: approx. 100 seeds per linear metre.
    • Maincrop/Washed carrots: 80–100 seeds per linear metre.
    • For processing: 60–70 seeds per linear metre.
  • Soil Management: While carrots generally require loose soil that doesn't "cap" (form a crust), this variety is notably tolerant of heavier ground. On heavy soils, we recommend growing them on "ridges" to improve drainage and root shape.
  • Companion Sowing: Try mixing your carrot seeds with a few radish seeds. The faster-growing radishes mark the rows early on, and harvesting them later naturally "thins out" the carrots to give them more room.
  • Thinning: If sown too densely, ensure you thin the seedlings to allow the remaining roots to develop fully.
