Description
Annual mugwort is a traditional Chinese medicinal plant that is now famous for its active ingredient artemisinin. This active ingredient has shown great promise in the fight against malaria. The plant grows as an annual and can be found in China as well as in other temperate zones such as Europe and North America.
The Chinese name "Qing Hao" refers to the dark green colour of the leaves, which also contain the highest content of artemisinin. The leaves exude an aromatic fragrance, while the taste is very bitter.
