The slightly sweet, green and violet-colored leaves have a flavor similar to a mixture of anise and licorice, also called sweet basil. They have dark violet stems and inflorescences with pink and purple flowers. The basil can be used fresh with other herbs or could be fried with many dishes or with currys. Add the leaves at the end of the cooking period, do not boil.
